Web Public Relations Intern/Fall Semester
9-10 hours/week
Step Ahead Web Strategies, a new firm based in Mt. Pleasant assisting clients with Web public relations strategy, implementation and management, is currently looking for a student intern for the spring semester who has an interest in Internet marketing and public relations or journalism to assist with tasks for the company's clients.
Required tasks include set up and management of MySpace, Facebook and other social networking profiles; managing and writing blog postings; linking and other research; posting videos and Podcasts to online directories; monitoring client mentions on the Web; and other online marketing tasks. Mettler Public Relations, an affiliated traditional public relations firm, also requires assistance with research and creation of media lists; news release distribution; ad reservation and placement; writing news releases and media kits; and other related public relations tasks. Individual must be professional, a self-starter, able to work from home and extremely organized. Student will work from home 7-8 hours/week and with one of the company’s partners or account managers 2-3 hours/week. High-speed Internet home set-up with laptop and phone required. Student should also have some experience and knowledge of blogs, online video sites and social networking.
